This volume examines the nature and value of social and emotional learning (SEL) across diverse global contexts through a comprehensive cross-cultural research effort. Drawing on perspective from 19 countries across the Global South, Asia, and the Global North, the volume explores how SEL skills and frameworks manifest in different cultural settings, with particular attention to historical context and culturally responsive practices. The research prioritizes authentic perspectives from educators and researchers deeply embedded within their local communities, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional models of positive youth development and the varied contexts in which young people navigate their education and career pathways.
