It’s Crowded (Mass Sporting Events)
摘要
Mass participation sporting events are characterized by highly attended endurance sports, obstacle races, and sport-specific competitive sports. These events present a wide array of logistical challenges for medical teams due to environmental factors, safety concerns, and venue location. Event physicians should be familiar with the epidemiology of unique injuries and medical conditions for which participants may require medical care. Medical teams should be equipped to appropriately manage acute injury and illness suffered by participants, including life-threatening medical conditions. Developing emergency action plans (EAP) and reviewing extraction and medical transport protocols with the event medical team and local EMS is imperative to prevent adverse outcomes and ensure the safety of event participants.
