Climate change mitigation strategies and their acceptance by nations have been beset with disagreement and disenchantment over the past few decades. Most of the efforts in this direction have been for the most part, either implemented in letter and not in spirit or implemented apathetically by marginal, emerging, and developed economies. The current ambitious targets of reducing global carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions by about 45% till the year 2030, from the levels in the year 2010, look unattainable given the dearth of ideas on the ways to achieve it and slow pace of implementation of existing strategies. Radical reversal of CO2 emissions through strategies that create pathways towards zero carbon global future is the need of the hour. Since the impacts are spatially limitless and given the heightened awareness at the individual and local community level, strategies can be framed around local contexts and people’s needs for societal improvement, leading to global climate change mitigation. Our chapter draws attention to the imperativeness of green technological breakthroughs through green entrepreneurship (GE), as one of the effective solutions to moderate the pace of globally harmful emissions and driving societal change. To drive green innovations at scale and also for new green technologies to find timely acceptance and a market, we suggest formulation of enabling policy frameworks, favorable towards sustainable new green technologies. This, integrated with enabling disruptive green technological innovations replacing conventional nongreen technologies, will accelerate the global economy towards decarbonized state. This model is a departure from the top-down approach of global consensus model followed and implemented in the past few decades with limited success. The linking of local and national economic interests by fostering a competitive and economically advantageous model of disruptive green technologies will accelerate the mitigation of environmental challenges faced by the global community.
