The influence of plastic pollution on both living and nonliving elements of the ecosystem has been documented for over 50 years, making it a chronic global problem. In view of our quest for sustainability (in terms of food, water, environment, and our health), it is impossible to overstate the growing worries about the short- and long-term effects of plastic matter entrainment into foods and water. As a result, some schools of thought advocate for a complete ban on plastic materials, while others suggest revisiting and continuously evaluating the plastic economy. This shows that, more than ever, a comprehensive solution to plastic pollution calls for new, creative, and efficient methods. In order to inform the recommendations that are being presented, current obstacles and challenges that are impeding efforts to mitigate plastic pollution are identified. This highlights the importance of finding sustainable solutions to plastic pollution that address both current issues and potential threats in the future.

摘要
