In the last two decades, the study of older adults and the health-disease process has been approached from a perspective of healthy aging. This has led to a large amount of research focusing on the prevention of frailty and cognitive decline as main axes, neglecting other areas such as educational experiences, personality traits, and positive health interventions. Despite the interest that the topic has gained, research and psychosocial interventions to promote health and prevent disease in older adults in Latin America are scarce, representing an area of opportunity for health psychologists and demanding an interdisciplinary approach.
