One of the central premises of the book is to understand the genre of political cartoons from a meaning generational aspect. The chapter seeks to answer the following questions: How do cartoons generate meaning? What structuresstructures do they bank upon? What narrativesnarratives have they been able to establish? Moreover, what is the result or consequence of those narratives? The preceding chapters have established humor, rhetoric, and metaphors as key variables through which cartoons develop meaning. The chapter has been structured to deconstruct political cartoons through the prism of these variables to see how, at first, individually, these variables generate meanings in cartoons and then collectively contextualize the role and functions of political cartoons in drawing the narrative of the region of Kashmir.
