In Colombia, the bioeconomy is characterized as an economy that efficiently manages biodiversity and biomass to generate new products, processes, and services based on knowledge and innovation. This conception of bioeconomy arises as a response to the growing concern over resource depletion and climate change, which implies the adaptation of productive models for the responsible use of biological resources. The advancement toward a bioeconomy-based economy requires the updating of policies, communication, and institutions that guide the action of the involved actors, to optimize benefits and minimize transition costs. In the agricultural sector, this will translate into improvements in good sovereignty and security, among other things. In this context, the Corporación Colombiana de Investigación—Agrosavia, as a key player in agricultural innovation, has committed to addressing the needs of the population in its territories, focusing on sustainable agriculture practices, biodiversity, circular economy, and bioproducts to meet the needs of the agricultural sector.
