Universal Joint Modeling in Catia V5, Synopsis of the Kinematics: The First Step for Failure Analysis
摘要
Universal joints are widely used in a large number of mechanisms today. They are efficient tools for transferring motion between skewed shafts. Such components are vulnerable to material failure on a regular basis. Among other factors, it can be attributed to ignoring the kinematics behaviors altogether. The U-joint kinematic modeling capability is implemented in most CAE software but not clearly documented in the package. This expository paper concentrates on the Catia v5 code attempting to shed some light on the different tools available to the users for this joint. The basic, yet sound exposition of the joint which is attempted in the paper.
