The conventional vehicles are the major contributors to global warming, pollution and lead to other problems that threaten the survival of mankind. Therefore, it is an important need to turn towards environmentally friendly alternatives, such as plug-in electric vehicles. The conventional plug-in electric vehicle charger utilizes the non-isolated buck-boost converter. Due to non-isolation the reliability of the conventional charger is low. Hence, in this paper the non-isolated conventional charger has been replaced with an isolated charger which increase the reliability and efficiency of the system. A comparison is also made between a conventional charger and the proposed isolated electric vehicle charger. The proposed electric vehicle charger has an overall efficiency of 88%, which is greater than the traditional charger’s efficiency of 60%. This work has been analyzed using MATLAB/Simulink. The results show that the proposed EV charger is effective and efficient.

摘要
