Assessment of Land Use Changes During Urban Development in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province in the Period of 2012–2022
摘要
To serve the purposes of statistical analysis, land inventory, and future planning in Hue city, this study focuses on analyzing the changes in land use during urban development from 2012 to 2022 in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam. Using ArcGIS 10.8 software, we generated land use change (LUC) maps by overlaying two land use status maps in 2012 and 2022 based on the land use status maps in 2011 and 2021, land inventory data in 2012 and 2022, and the revised land inventory map in 2012 and 2022. The LUC map reveals significant land use fluctuations resulting from the urban expansion process in Hue city following Resolution 1624/NQ-UBTVQH. Specifically, the expanded area covers 19,542.16 ha due to the incorporation of communes and wards into the city. Agricultural land represents the largest proportion of the expanded area, covering 12,783.70 ha. Based on the original boundaries, the LUC area is 7104.05 ha, with specialized land experiencing the greatest increase (by 410.23 ha) and agricultural land undergoing the largest decrease (by 302.73 ha). The findings show that there are several challenges in constructing maps for land use change assessment and propose some solutions to enhance the effectiveness of this assessment in Hue city.
