This research was carried out to find out the impact of Microsoft Reading Progress tool on improving elementary school students’ reading skill. The researcher used a structured interview, observation, and a questionnaire as research tools to answer the research questions: “Does the Reading Progress tool improve students’ reading?,” and “Does the Reading Progress tool motivate students to improve their fluency?” The researcher adopted quantitative and qualitative approaches to strengthen the research topic. The observation was conducted on 21 students from an elementary school in Najran whereas interviews and the questionnaires were administered to the English teachers. Four teachers were interviewed and 30 teachers filled out the questionnaire. The results suggest that Microsoft Reading Progress tool is an effective tool to improve students’ reading skill. The findings of this research may motivate English teachers to use this tool as a pedagogical instrument to teach reading and train their students to use it.
