Ions and plasmas have been investigated and utilized in various applications. This chapter gives basic knowledge of discharge phenomena and fundamental methods to produce ions and plasmas. Recent applications of plasma in space propulsion and atmospheric pressure plasma for agricultural and medical applications are briefly introduced.

Ions and plasmas have been investigated and utilized in various applications. This chapter gives basic knowledge of discharge phenomena and fundamental methods to produce ions and plasmas.
