Prediction Model for Throughput and Induced Traffic Volume of Newly Built Inland River Ports

To predict the throughput of newly developed ports and scientifically determine the planning capacity of ports, the induced traffic volume is identified as the core of this paper based on existing studies and current engineering applications. The induced traffic volume prediction model of newly developed ports is constructed by considering the constraints of port land and shoreline resources, the type and scale of port-related industries, the input and output situation of port-related industries, the generation of freight volume and the proportion of water transportation sharing, and so on. Port A, developed using Canal B, is selected as a case study. The induced traffic volume of Port A in 2035 is predicted to be 20 million tons, which is consistent with the actual demand for developing port-backed industries; the predictive model is well-adapted to the needs of port-backed industries.
