This study explores the methods utilized by maritime instructors during simulator-based navigation exercises, particularly emphasizing their alignment with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). This study reveals that instructors are largely acquainted with traditional teaching methods such as direct instruction and scenario-based learning. Survey results indicate that a majority of instructors find their current approaches effective and compliant with STCW requirements. However, this study also uncovers areas of improvement, especially concerning learner engagement and the integration of modern technologies and best practices together with the adoption of innovative strategies such as adaptive learning and gamification. These findings hold significant implications for the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of maritime training programs, aiming to contribute towards the more effective educational practices in the maritime sector to foster the competence and safety of maritime professionals.

摘要
