This chapter analyzes the insertion of female researchers and university professors in the Chilean social sciences since 1990. It has two objectives. First is to investigate the importance of Chilean feminist movements in the emergence of the gender perspective and the opening up of university academic bodies to the presence of women. Second is to characterize the working conditions of female social scientists, observing changes to and the persistence of patterns of gendered inequality. It discusses the historical background of the transition to democracy and its links to feminist movements, demographic transformations, and the rearticulation of social sciences in Chile. In addition, it analyzes the strengthening of the neoliberal logic in Chilean universities in the current century, observing its impact on gender gaps in academia. Finally, it also discusses the rearticulation between the demands of the feminist movements and the critiques of androcentrism in Chilean social sciences since 2010.
