Cybersecurity is critical for modern vehicles, as highlighted by recent regulations. Vehicles rely on multiple Electronic Control Units (ECUs), making them vulnerable to attacks. The HARDNESS project seeks to enhance automotive cybersecurity through two key initiatives. First, it will develop Software Over-The-Air (SOTA) updates for ECUs, ensuring software security and resilience against future quantum threats. Efficient, portable solutions will be supported by hardware accelerators. Second, the project will create a system combining hardware fingerprinting and rule-based techniques for anomaly detection and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), focusing on securing the increasingly vulnerable CAN bus. An experimental setup will evaluate the solutions.
