The meadow buttercup (Ranunculus acris) is a common plant of wet meadows. Its flower has five sepals and five petals in alternating positions. The stamens and the separate carpels are arranged spirally (Fig. 7.1). Achene fruits develop from the carpels’ ovaries and form cluster of achenes (Fig. 7.2).
