SAMBHAV: Socially Sensed, Accessible, Mobile, Behaviour-Based and Human-Centric Smart Wearable Devices Aimed for Visually Impaired and Persons with Allied Disabilities

Much before the advent of present-day technologies (for instance, GPS and Mobility apps), navigating spaces led to wrong judgments by People with Disabilities (PwDs) leading to invisibility and low vision discrepancies especially amongst the Visually Impaired Persons.Smart sticks, a type of widely known Smart Wearable Devices (SWDs), generally do not include capabilities like dynamic self-navigation, detection and identification of objects, or recognition of faces and voices. Current research work aims toward design and development of SAMBHAV: Socially Sensed, Accessible, Mobile, Behaviour-based Human-centric device Aimed for Visually impaired and allied disabilities. It also aims to map users’ journeys of PwDs on Pre Planned Pathways [PPPs] [1], which would be analyzed as patterns, trends and tendencies. In addition, surveys planned would reflect upon the categories, characteristics, pain points, aspirations and comments.
