Artificial Intelligence in Endodontics
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) is an emerging field with vast potential to transform endodontic care through enhanced diagnostics, treatment planning, and clinical procedures. While still early in development, studies show AI holds promise for improving endodontic decision-making and outcomes. For radiographic analysis, deep learning models demonstrate high accuracy in tasks like periapical lesion detection. AI also recognizes challenging anatomical variations, like additional canal systems. In treatment planning, AI techniques are applied to tasks including working length estimation, risk assessment, and outcome prediction. Despite promising capabilities, realizing AI’s full potential in endodontics faces hurdles like model interpretability, generalizability, and lack of large standardized datasets. Ethical considerations around liability and data privacy also require attention. AI should aim to complement endodontists’ expertise for impactful integration into practice, not replace it. This chapter reviews the landscape and future outlook of this rapidly advancing field.
