The convergence of breakthroughs in battery electrochemistry and the expanding functionalities of electronic devices is propelling a paradigm shift in energy storage. Conventional batteries, optimized for high energy density and efficient cycling, are no longer sufficient for the burgeoning realm of flexible, rollable, transparent, and even transient electronics. This necessitates a fundamental transformation in battery design at the material and device level. This chapter delves into the exciting field of multifunctional batteries, with a specific emphasis on flexible, transient, and transparent designs. The key technical challenges will be addressed to realize these next-generation energy storage devices with the assistance of artificial intelligence design. By overcoming these challenges and capitalizing on emerging trends, multifunctional batteries hold immense potential for powering a new generation of seamlessly integrated, high-performance electronic systems.
