This chapter initially previews the incidence and trends of malpractice in revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA). We afterward divide the malpractice risk factor into surgical-related aspects, including preoperative planning, surgical material selection, and patient-related features containing comorbidities, competence, and follow-up. We then suggested several strategies to eliminate the malpractice risk, focusing on improving the communication between surgeons and patients and appropriate notes during the informed consent process. The importance of developing a comprehensive surgical protocol and checklist, along with proper documentation and record-keeping, was also discussed. In the following, the ethical consideration in managing malpractice claims was discussed in detail. This chapter also enhances the role of surgical technique advancements such as minimally invasive, robotic, and computer assistant surgery, augmented virtual reality, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and remote monitoring in reducing future malpractice.
