Osteolysis is a well-known complication of total hip arthroplasty in both cemented and cementless components but has been become less common with current technology and improvements in highly cross-linked polyethylene bearing surfaces. This chapter provides an overview on the failure mechanisms and indications for revision in both acetabulum and femoral osteolysis in addition to some of the authors’ preferred surgical techniques.
