The number of revision total hip arthroplasties continues to grow in the United States and is projected to reach >40,000 per year by 2040 (Shichman et al., Arthroplast Today 21:101152, 2023). Multiple indications such as instability and infection may necessitate removal of well-fixed acetabular components during revision. Removal of these components is a safe and time efficient technique resulting in minimal bone loss to allow for optimum reconstruction. In this chapter, we describe the necessary steps and tools to successfully remove acetabular components with minimal bone loss.
