This research aims to examine the impact of ex ante anxiety and the fraud triangle on academic fraud. During and after the COVID-19 pandemic, academic fraud has been a significant issue in the academic life, moreover during online activities. This study uses three variables derived from fraud triangle theory in explaining academic fraud behavior. In addition, this research also examines Machiavellianism factor. Current research considers ex ante anxiety as a significant additional factor that impact students’ rationalization before committing fraud. It is crucial to understand these dynamics to develop effective strategies. Furthermore, the strategies urgently are needed to reduce academic fraud and enhance the quality of the academic atmosphere.
