Factors Influencing the Performance of Shared Service Centers in Egypt
摘要
Shared service centers are a relatively new phenomenon that has evolved over the past few years and can be typically defined as the grouping of the firm’s resources to perform common tasks for several internal entities with high efficiency and low costs. This study aims to bridge the gap in literature concerning SSCs and discover the factors influencing the performance of shared service centers (SSC) in Egypt, to help organizations in utilizing their resources to achieve a competitive advantage. The research is deductive in nature, where the researchers used an explanatory sequential mixed method approach. A quantitative approach was used using an online survey which was distributed via online platforms. The research population included 44 multinational organizations operating in Egypt that have shared service centers. The final sample included in the analysis was 147 surveys. Following that, the researchers conducted qualitative interviews with employees working in SSCs to justify the findings and interpret the missing variables. The findings indicated that Culture and Readiness for change variables are predictors of performance. The proposed conceptual framework in this research managed to interpret 52.2% of the dependent variable performance while the qualitative interviews that followed proposed some variables that can predict the remaining 47.8% of the dependent variable.
