Integration of Alexa and Social IoT for Generation X: A Study on the Optimization Use of Smart Treadmill to Improve Physical Health
摘要
The Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging technology with a significant impact on social and technological domains. Its focus is on the interconnectivity between electronic devices for data transfer and retention through wireless networks, with minimal human intervention, under the premise that any device with these characteristics is intelligent or autonomous. People’s interest in acquiring technological advancements that make life more efficient is increasing daily. Among these advancements are virtual assistants like Alexa, Siri, and ChatGPT, which have gained relevance in contemporary times by offering intuitive and wireless control over a wide range of connected devices. Although these advancements have a considerable market among current generations, there is also a promising field of exploration in Generation X. Due to their lifestyle, the help provided by IoT and virtual assistants can be crucial to improving their well-being. In this article, we will explore how the integration of voice commands and IoT capabilities can maximize the use of a treadmill. Sensors will be added to initiate a prototype capable of capturing variables such as heart rate and blood oxygenation, with the future implementation of a virtual assistant backed by artificial intelligence to achieve optimal personalization aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle. The creation of this device not only focuses on facilitating the manipulation and personalization of workout routines but also seeks to generate economic benefits through monetary comparisons with a conventional gym. Furthermore, it will focus on a smooth, feedback-driven adaptation for optimal integration into the user’s daily life, thus improving habits and quality of life.
