Technologies and Initiatives for Addressing Key Challenges and Achieving SDG 11 in India
摘要
Sustainable Development Goal 11 is one of 17 global goals set by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The main goal is to build more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements, guaranteeing a higher quality of life for all citizens while reducing negative environmental consequences and fostering economic development as cities worldwide grapple with challenges such as pollution, congestion, and resource depletion. EcoTech urbanism represents a holistic approach to urban development that recognizes the interconnectedness of social, economic, and environmental factors by harnessing innovative technologies to create cities that are not only livable but also environmentally sustainable. This article investigates the important issues and obstacles faced by Indian cities in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 11. Urban areas face several challenges, including providing affordable housing, controlling air and water pollution, improving public transportation, solid waste management, energy efficiency, climate change mitigation, and implementing significant expenditures. This technology involves designing and constructing buildings with materials and technologies that minimize energy consumption, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance indoor air quality. By leveraging digital technologies such as GIS, intelligent transport systems and cities can optimize the management of resources such as housing, waste management, and transportation. This overview makes an important addition to talks about urban planning in India by analyzing the barriers to urbanization and providing remedies. This article underlines the importance of government operations in promoting programs to achieve SDG 11, which aligns with the SDG 2030 Agenda.
