When returning from field research amongst migrants in the Danish countryside in 2017, 2020, and 2022 I was bemused and confused about the multiplicities of my interlocutors. Many of them were farm labourers from Romania and Ukraine who came to Denmark to gain better livelihoods. At the same time, when following their everyday lives and through conversations, we learned how they took upon themselves various significances and identities and drew upon multiple and contradictory discourses when making sense of themselves and their lives.
