Fate
摘要
My reflections on the concept of fate are informed by a close reading of Walter Benjamin’s writings on the subject, coupled with a commentary on fate and free will in classical Greek and contemporary West African cosmologies. I also interpolate the philosophical perspectives of Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus in arguing that the tension between what we make of what we are made is an existential issue before it is a philosophical one, and that it has universal anthropological relevance.
