Since aesthetics is linked with the harmony and proportionality that produce sensuous pleasure, I will argue that the rejection of persons with atypical bodies (i.e., the aesthetic shock) refers to the negative reaction that persons who do not fit within the creaturely aesthetics categories usually produce in human beings. Or in other words, the aesthetic shock brings to the fore the extent to which the human lapsarian condition is characterised by the constant quest for pleasure and avoidance of pain.
