This chapter explores the complexities of language politics in Kurdish discourse, focusing on the internalization of colonial ideologies and their subjugation to the colonial gaze. It examines the normalization of imposed dichotomies between mother tongue/local and official/national languages, showing how external constraints and internalized colonial perceptions fragment Kurdish political discourse and reinforce epistemological barriers. Drawing on anticolonial scholarship, the chapter highlights the devaluation of the Kurdish language under colonial paradigms and its profound impact on Kurdish identity.
