Öcalan and Misak-ı Milli
摘要
This chapter examines the role of the Misak-ı Milli in shaping Turkish independence, reinforcing the sole sovereignty of the Turkish nation, and its relevance within Öcalan’s vision of democratic confederalism. It highlights the Union of Communities of Kurdistan’s (KCK) efforts to revive this foundational document to promote Kurdish-Turkish cooperation, aligning it with the contours of the Turkish state’s national interests. By analyzing Öcalan’s revisionist interpretation of the Misak-ı Milli, the chapter explores how the neo-Ottomanist policies of Erdoğan have influenced Öcalan’s reformulation of Kurdish politics.
