Gastritis and Gastroduodenal Ulcer
摘要
Gastritis can be defined as an inflammation of the mucosa of the stomach. When this lesion spreads, it can lead to ulceration of the involved tissue. Gastritis, in general, can be classified according to its evolution or by the anatomical region affected. In terms of etiology, Helicobacter pylori infection, inappropriate use of NSAIDs, and/or genetic factors stand out. The pathophysiology can be explained by inflammation and mucosal atrophy, with implications for acid production and healing. The main symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and complications such as gastric bleeding and perforation and stenosis of the stomach. Endoscopy is the gold standard method to diagnose this pathology. The treatment of choice is pharmacological and includes, above all, proton pump inhibitors and antiacids. In cases of H. pylori involvement, microorganisms must be eradicated.
