In the Image-Based Abuse and Bystander Intervention Study, gender was a consistent factor to emerge in discussions around bystander intervention and image-based sexual abuse. This was evident in relation to the level of blame placed on the victim-survivor for their experience (see Chapter 3 ), the motivations of the perpetrator, and whether participants felt they would intervene if witnessing a real or hypothetical image-based sexual abuse incident. In this chapter, we discuss in more detail how gender dynamics may impact bystander intervention in image-based sexual abuse incidents, particularly the gender of bystanders, perpetrators, and victim-survivors.

摘要
