Pore pressure or formation pressure is defined as the in-situ pressure acting on the fluids in the pore space of a formation. Understanding of pressure effect is important when the relations between the reservoir properties and lithology are investigated using rock parameters. In practice, abnormal pore pressure changes can be hazardous when encountered unexpectedly during drilling. The pore pressure distribution above and at the reservoir units have to be documented in advance for safe well planning.
