The Palk Bay fishing dispute between Indian fishermen and Sri Lankan authorities has been a long-standing issue causing humanitarian and livelihood concerns for the Tamil Nadu fishermen. This chapter samples 12 editorials from The Hindu, a national English daily published in India, and conducts the thematic analysis approach to identify editorial discourses on the conflict. Apart from identifying key themes such as conflict, the need for resolution, sustainable fishing practices, humanitarian concerns and governance, this chapter also examined the power dynamics between India and Sri Lanka. It also highlights ideological constructs such as humanitarianism, environmentalism, economic factors and legal frameworks in the editorial discourse. Analysis showed that the editorials also proposed solutions, emphasising the need for sustainable practices, government responsibility and diplomatic efforts to address the issue.
