The research aims to test the hypothesis and assess the level of digitalization of enterprises in the sectoral aspect, which will make it possible to determine the types of economic activities characterized by the use of digital technologies and vice versa. The research is based on analyzing open data on vacancies regarding the presence or absence of digital skills and belonging to a certain type of activity. The source of primary data was the HeadHunter recruiting platform. The main methods used in the research are general scientific and statistical methods. Based on the proposed approach to assessing the level of digitalization of companies in the Russian Federation, two categories of industries can be distinguished: “core” and “periphery.” According to the results, most sectors of the Russian economy belong to the “core” industries. The authors conclude that there are vacancies with a digital set of skills and competencies and vice versa in all sectors of the economy. The research shows that the digitalization of enterprises can be classified according to the requirements for employees regarding the presence or absence of digital skills, which ultimately makes it possible to determine the level of demand for digital technologies in the activities of enterprises in any industry.
