Jacket Armhole Measurement with Laser Scanning and 2D Imaging in Textiles
摘要
Clothing manufacturers face unique challenges compared to other industries due to their reliance on precise body measurements to create well-fitting garments. The garment sewing process is intricate and prone to errors that are difficult to detect during production, often leading to sizing issues. Designs are typically created in 2D but worn in 3D, resulting in inevitable size variations, particularly in multi-piece garments. Additionally, gravitational effects pose further challenges to inaccurate measurement. This study aims to measure the circumferences of jacket sleeve armholes and identify dimensional discrepancies at the armhole junctions. Two distinct methods were employed: a 3D laser scan was conducted on both a human model and an inflatable mannequin, and measurements were performed using an ArUCO marker on 2D images of the mannequin. The results revealed significant size variations in the jacket armhole seams, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining 3D laser scanning and 2D imaging techniques. These findings suggest that the dual-method approach provides a comprehensive evaluation of jacket sleeve armhole dimensions, which could help improve sizing accuracy in garment manufacturing.
