In this chapter, the author describes how young creators assemble and utilize their Digital Visual Learning Networks (DVLNs) in their creative processes. He uses a sociomaterialist framework to examine how digital tools, resources, and online communities have become integral to the learning processes of teens and young adults. Through digital platforms such as social media, video tutorials, and applications, young creators consume content and actively contribute to and reshape collective knowledge online and offline via content creation, sharing, and interaction. The author explores how young creators navigate networked digital media, assembling diverse digital resources and engaging in self-directed learning marked by perseverance, experimentation, and adaptability. Human and non-human actors within these networks, including interactions with peers, family, and various digital platforms, are important in the creative lives of young people. By focusing on the interactive, decentralized nature of learning within digital and social media spaces, the author presents a starting point for thinking about adapting teaching to amplify existing learning practices among young creatives.
