Digital health technologies, including telehealth and remote monitoring, are transforming healthcare delivery by improving patient care, enabling remote consultations, and supporting hospital-at-home programs. Telehealth has evolved from a simple tool for remote provider consultations into a comprehensive system for various services capable of delivering many medical services in non healthcare settings or when other options do not exist for access to care such as during a disaster. Remote monitoring technologies, which collect patient data and enable continuous monitoring, play a key role in emerging hospital-at-home programs for patients with acute or chronic conditions. The benefits of telehealth include improved access to care, convenience, cost-effectiveness, and continuity of care, while remote monitoring offers early detection of health issues, reduced hospital readmissions, and patient empowerment. However, challenges such as technological limitations, privacy concerns, and regulatory complexities must be addressed. Future advancements in digital health include integrating artificial intelligence, expanding hospital-at-home programs, increasing use of telerobotic surgery, enhancing data sharing, and developing patient-friendly interfaces. These innovations have the potential to improve healthcare outcomes and the quality of life for patients.
