Jiuhuashan Bridge in Chengde, 218m long, spans the Wulie River, the main river in the urban area. It is a V-shaped rigid steel-box girder and but- terfly shaped steel pipe arch composite structure bridge. The main river channel adopts a three-span half through special-shaped butterfly arch-beam combina- tion bridge with a space double cable-faced boom. The main stressed structure is composed of two outward inclined arch ribs and main beams, supplemented by boom connections, the arch foot and the main beam body are rigidly knotted. The bridge goes up and down as a whole, each span of the bridge by an outward tilt arch rib through a set of booms to hoist the steel box girder of the main bridge to form a basic structural system. The boom provides lateral stability constraints for the outward tilt rib, and it also reduces the internal force of the main beam of the steel box, so the force is more reasonable. The structure is novel and the appearance is beautiful, with symmetrical arch ribs, thin steel box girder and outward tilted arch ribs. The structural lines are integrated into the overall shape of the bridge, which looks like a butterfly dancing on the Wulie River from a distance.
