Contrasting body parts such as a black tail and a pure white rump-patch are used by goitered gazelles as an alarm signal. Stotting, urination, and just running fast signal an imminent danger, while staring and vigilance, as well as hissing, attract conspecifics to pay attention to a suspicious object. In case of threat of attack, goitered gazelles increase the frequency of vigilance acts, but do not gather in larger groups. These gazelles escape in a sideways direction most often and try to run to an elevated points, toward mountains and up slopes.
