In contrast to the widespread opinion that the sex ratio in ungulate populations varies annually, depending on the degree of favorability of the year, I found fluctuations in the sex ratio of goitered gazelles in different seasons of the same year. The analysis showed that this is due to a change in the behavior of females who lead a secretive lifestyle during birthing and several weeks after that. Whereas males behave the same way all year round. As a result of the analysis, I get a lot more males than females in birthing time, while after that sex ratio come back closely to parity.
