In March 1806, an unusual object had fallen from the sky above the village of Valence in southern France. It was collected by farmers, who took it to scientists for analysis. They discovered that it contained water, organic matter, and matter made up of carbon and other elements. Several years later, the meteorite was brought to the laboratory of the famous scientist Louis Pasteur, who studied it to understand whether it contained any form of life. He found no life but confirmed the presence of organic material. Meteorites such as Valence constitute 5% of all meteorites and are called carbonaceous chondrites because they contain spheroidal regions called chondrules and carbon and carbon compounds. These meteorites formed at the origin of the solar system and are important in the search for extraterrestrial life that is supposed to be made up of organic matter. In 1969, a similar meteorite, the Murchinson meteorite, fell in Australia. The analysis revealed basic elements on which life is based: amino acids. A spontaneous question is what chemical elements and phenomena are found in space. The most accredited theory for the formation of the Universe is the Big Bang theory, which states that the Universe formed approximately 13.8 billion years ago from a very small region that began to expand rapidly. Approximately 3 min after the Big Bang, light elements, such as hydrogen, helium and some other light elements, formed. The heavier elements formed much later in stars.
