In the current chapter, I extend knowledge on the how values and ethics are taught, and their adherence ensured in the extended “job interview” that is the Correctional Training Program (CTP) offered by Correctional Services Canada (Correctional Services Canada). The service enforces processes to ensure the values and ethics of recruits align with those of the organization, processes which I unpack through lived experiences. To exemplify values and ethics, I explore how the constructs are taught across CTP Stages and how the Academy models their commitment to the organization’s values and ethics. Here, I draw attention to when recruits are discharged for violating the organizational values and ethics. I also lend insight into how recruits interpret and enact values and ethics when at the academy. Before concluding, I unpack the complexities across relationships (after positioning myself) between recruits, between recruits and trainers, and between recruits and the greater organization.

摘要
