This chapter discusses the main findings of the study. It argues that a broad definition of political participation is needed to recognise women’s grassroots work as acts of citizenship. It explores the ways in which gender equality and women’s political participation in Northern Ireland has been faced with pushback, backlash and in some instances, progress since 1998. The chapter then compares and contrasts transversal and agonistic dialogue in relation to women’s cross-community activities and addresses their limitations and obstacles to implementation. The chapter is then concluded with a discussion of the potential for building transversal gender-just citizenship in Northern Ireland.
