Maxillary sinus reconstruction is a valuable procedure contributing to the overall anatomic correction and functional enhancement and improving lifestyle of the patient. Reconstruction is particularly common following fractures. Depending on the degree of reconstruction required and the outcome that is aimed for, a prosthesis might be required to aid in proper augmentation and further reconstruction. Apart from prosthesis, another way of tackling reconstruction of the maxillary sinus involves the use of stem cell therapy. It provides prospective solutions to the difficulties presented by conventional bone grafting techniques by using mesenchymal stem cells derived from several origins with sophisticated scaffolds and growth factors to rejuvenate bone structure in the maxillary area. This new but promising approach demonstrates significant potential for treating maxillary deformities caused by trauma, tumour removal, or congenital abnormalities.
