Latin America and the Caribbean is a rich, diverse, and complex region. Certain historic salient events have driven the current status quo of social development in the region and, therefore, their analysis is of essence to understand the progress related to human and sustainable development. The reality is that the region is currently at an emerging sustainable development stage; as such, its advancement, or lack thereof, has been instrumental to the need for social enterprises.
