In the last decade, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has begun to play a fundamental role in the transformation of different areas of human endeavor, including public management. This article explores recent advances in the application of AI in public management, examines the associated challenges and analyzes the future prospects of this disruptive technology. In this understanding, a bibliographic portfolio of 3.124 articles was prepared, produced between 2019 and 2023, with which a systematic review of the literature was carried out and bibliometric networks were created with the VOSviewer software. Thus, specific use cases are explored in areas such as decision making, public service delivery and resource management. It is concluded that, if these challenges are addressed, AI has the potential to boost efficiency, transparency and citizen participation in public administration.
