Research, Design, and Manufacture of Mobile Air Quality Monitoring Stations Based on NB-IoT Network

The Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) has emerged as a prominent network technology deployed in various countries, including Vietnam and over 22 others worldwide. Addressing the pressing issue of air pollution in urban areas, this pa-per presents a study and design of a mobile air quality monitoring station system utilizing NB-IoT network technology. The system model comprises sensors em-ploying the transmission protocol of NB-IoT network technology to communi-cate with a Micro-Controller Unit (MCU). Data collected from the sensors are transmitted via the NB-IoT module, which is equipped with a 4G Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) provided by Viettel company. Additionally, a web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) application is developed using the.netcore C# programming language to visualize and promptly update the index parameters of air quality. Experimental findings showcase the utilization of the Air Quality Index (AQI) to represent PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations. The air quality moni-toring system employs STM32L476VGT6 to transmit data to the SIM Module NB-IoT 7020E. The model operates reliably and accurately, showcasing readings on an OLED display and a user-friendly web interface. The web platform offers doctor-recommended warning levels and information on diseases linked to air pollution, along with resources discussing treatment and preventive measures. Comparing the PM2.5 and PM10 measurement indicators obtained from the handheld BT-5800D and the SDS011 sensor, both indoor and outdoor measure-ments are comparable, with differences not exceeding 5% for PM2.5 and 9% for PM10. Indoor measurements demonstrate superior performance compared to outdoor measurements.
